Have you ever wanted to try rock climbing but weren’t sure where to start?

First Ascent Day is designed for beginners, families, local businesses, community groups, and anyone curious about climbing and the outdoors.

Join us for a FREE climbing event at beautiful Astral Valley Art Park, just about an hour south of St. Louis. Experienced climbers and volunteers will be on hand to help you take your first steps on real rock in a fun, welcoming environment.

Top Rope Season

Join EMCA leaders as they'll set up top ropes on Stage Left Wall . This is what you would normally see at a local climbing gym. Our belayers will hold the rope while you climb up the wall and will lower you back down once you are finished.

Camping

Camp anywhere you'd like in the main field but try to limit the damage you do to the grass. Camping is $20 for Primative and an +$20 for electric. 

Afternoon Yoga

Start off your afternoon with yoga led by Josh. This all-levels session will help you stretch, restore, and energize your body after a weekend of climbing. Bring your mat, breathe deep, and set a positive tone for the day ahead. **Please bring your own mat

Bouldering Clinic

Join us over by the Harmony Grove Boulders where difficulty ranges from V0 - V7. We'll go over what to bring when you go outdoor bouldering, how to spot, how to top out, a short demo on bouldering at Astral Valley, and we’ll have plenty of time to show beta and climb together.
